EU Draft Statement: 'More Steps' Considered If No Improvement By March

Wires reporting that the draft statement from EU leaders ahead of tomorrow's Council summit says that 'more steps' against Turkey will be considered in March 2021 if there is no improvement in relations between Turkey and the bloc by then.

  • Wires also reporting comments from EU diplomats saying that the draft statement continues to be revised, with the Greek gov't saying the wording against Turkey is not strong enough.
  • EU has been mulling sanctions against Turkey for its actions in the Eastern Mediterranean, where Greece and Cyprus have alleged Turkey has violated their maritime borders.
