EU Gas Market To Stay Tight Until 2026: Vitol

The European natural gas market will remain tight over the next two years until new global supply arrives in or after 2026, Stuart Sanders, head of short-term LNG trading at Vitol, said.

  • “We are really going to see LNG come to rescue post 2026 when we will see that big growth in supplies in different regions,” Sanders said.
  • “In the meantime, I think the market will remain tight and it is going to be far more vulnerable to risks,” he added.
  • Global LNG liquefaction capacity is set to expand by over 36%, or 220bcm, by 2030 according to IEA.
  • A record of 170bcm of new liquefaction capacity could be added between 2025-28, excluding Russia’s Arctic LNG 2 Trains and Mozambique LNG, IEA data showed.
