EU Gas Price Cap Unlikely To Limit Gas Exports: Equinor

The EU natural gas price cap is unlikely to weigh significantly on gas exports to the region, Equinor said.

  • “The intention behind the proposed mechanism is to avoid episodes of excessively high gas prices and not to implement a permanent intervention in market mechanism. Our immediate assessment is that this will not have a substantial consequence to our exports”, Equinor spokesperson Magnus Frantzen Eidsvold said.
  • EU ministers have questioned the purpose of the proposed €275/MWh price cap for European gas as it is unlikely to ever be triggered.
