EU gas sendout from LNG facilities has dropped to a seven-month low as reduced demand and healthy gas injections curtail LNG imports, according to Platts

  • Sendout levels from EU LNG hubs stood at ,797 GWh/d May 19, according to GIE data, the lowest level since Oct. 10.
  • Sendout is also 24% lower than during the same period in 2023, Platts said.
  • Platts analysts attributed this to week demand, with robust Norwegian flows and milder weather tapering demand.
  • While higher summer temperatures could boost some demand in certain European regions, healthy storage levels with dampen the urgency for imports.
  • Asia also remains the premium market for marginal cargoes. The JKM July price was assessed at $11.498/MMBtu May 21, while NWE LNG was at $10.111/MMBtu - or TTF minus 14 cents/MMBtu – May 20.
