China Adds Further LNG Deal with US

NATURAL GAS

China Gas has signed a deal to buy 0.7 million tons/year of LNG from Energy Transfer’s proposed Lake Charles export plant for 25 years.

  • The purchase price is indexed to the Henry Hub benchmark plus a fixed liquefaction charge and first deliveries are expected to start in 2026
  • "This SPA brings our total amount of LNG contracted from our Lake Charles LNG export facility to nearly 6.0 mtpa and is an important step towards our goal of reaching FID later this year," Energy Transfer president Tom Mason said as part of the statement.
  • Around nine LNG supply deals between the US and China have been signed in the last year.
  • Deals for US LNG have gained pace as Europe also seeks to buy LNG supplies from the region to diversify away from Russian gas.
