MNI BRIEF: Mexico Inflation Falls To 4.99% In August
Inflation data released by the Mexican National Institute of Statistics and Geography.
MNI (BRASILIA) - Mexico's INPC annual inflation was 4.99% in August, the Mexican National Institute of Statistics and Geography said on Monday, announcing a figure below the 5.06% consensus forecast and down from 5.57% in July.
It was the first deceleration after five months of an upward trend. Core inflation was 4.00%, in line with consensus and down from 4.05% in July, continuing its downward trajectory.
"Within the non-core index, on a monthly basis, prices of agricultural products decreased by 2.08%, while energy prices and government-authorized tariffs increased by 0.48%," INEGI said. (See MNI INTERVIEW: Lower Rates With Disinflation- Banxico's Mejia)
