EU Gas Storage Injections in Line with Average

European natural gas storage injections this week are in line with the seasonal norm as storage levels are approaching 99% of capacity, GIE data show.

  • Net injections have eased back this week and are now in line with the seasonal average. Net injections stood at 604.5GWh/d and 729GWh on Monday and Tuesday, respectively, in line with the average.
  • Last week, net injections rose up to 1.87TWh/d on Saturday, well above the seasonal average at 732GWh/d.
  • European natural gas storage stood at 98.69% of capacity as of 24 October, with the five-year average at around 90%.
  • Storage in Germany is now at 98.86%, Italy at 98.4%, France at 98.92%, the Netherlands at 98.75% and Austria at 98.17%.
  • Latest BNEF estimates suggested European gas stocks will end the winter in March at 44% full.
