NATGAS: EU Imports Of Russia Gas Up 11% m/m In February

NATGAS

EU countries imported 126mcm/d of gas from Russia last month, up by 12mcm/d (11%) from January, Montel reports.

  • Spiking regional gas prices appear to be behind the additional flows, driven by cold temperatures, low storage, demand in Moldova and some outflow to Ukraine, according to a Rystad Energy analyst cited by Montel.
  • 52.1mcm/d was received through TurkStream, a monthly increase of 10.4%, Montel reports citing data published by Entso-G.
  • “It seems like TurkStream is now at [full] capacity and most of the additional flows could be going to Transnistria, which lost Russian flows via Ukraine from January”, a LSEG gas analyst said, cited by Montel.
  • Exports via the Sudzha crossing between Russia and Ukraine remained at zero following the expiry of Gazprom’s five-year transit deal on Jan. 1.
  • European imports of Russian LNG rose 10.7% m/m to 74.3mcm/d, according to Kpler data cited by Montel.
