The EU’s LNG demand is likely to peak this year as the bloc accelerates the transition to renewable energies, ACER said in a report.
- The energy regulator said EU LNG demand may have even peaked last year, depending on the upcoming winter.
- If the bloc is reaching its renewable targets, the decline in gas demand by 2030 is estimated at over 200bcm compared to 2019, ACER said.
- ACER expects the EU to be over-contracted for gas from 2027.
