EU Matches 12BCM of Gas In Second Joint Tender Round

The EU’s second tender under its joint gas purchase platform matched 12bcm of supply and demand, according to Commission Vice-President Maros Sefcovic.

  • The second tender round received applications for 15.9bcm of natural gas demand for the period up to March 2025.
  • In the first tender round, the EU matched gas suppliers and buyers for 10.9bcm of gas for the period of June 2023 to May 2024. 25 suppliers offered a total of 30.4bcm.
  • The third round of the joint gas purchasing tender will be held after the summer break.
  • Under EU rules approved last year companies must pool gas demand equal to at least 15% of their storage obligations for next winter – around 13.5bcm. – and seek offers for it through the new platform.
