EU journalist Dave Keating tweeting on European Council President Charles Michel's comments to the Bruegel think tank event taking place online: ""Europeans have become a world power without actually being aware of it" says eucopresident Charles Michel at Bruegel_org FB Live event, referencing @anubradford's book "The Brussels Effect".

• It's a play on Paul-Henri Spaak's observation a half-century ago: 'There are two types of countries in Europe, those that are small and those that do not yet know they are small' Europe, President Michel says, doesn't yet know it is big.
• On Brexit, President Michel says: "The British have a dilemma to face: what sort of society do they want for themselves?". "Do they prefer to maintain high environment and health standards, or do they want a race to the bottom with their standards?"
• President Michel comes out *against* President vonderleyen's proposal to end the unanimity requirement for EU foreign policy decisions. "This unanimity is our strength. It helps countries reach decisions they all can strand by". He thinks losing it could be a counter-productive
