FOREX: EUR/USD ebbs to fresh multi-year low as equities turn south
-Despite the firmer close Wednesday, US equity markets started the session
poorly and maintained the losses well past the halfway mark as traders responded
to the full release of the whistle-blower complaint into Trump's dealings with
his Ukrainian counterpart. Losses for equities accelerated as an official
confirmed that the US are unlikely to extend waivers on Huawei suppliers, adding
that the US are still considering action if their allies use Huawei products.
Falling equities dented risk appetite and anchored EUR/USD, which edged to fresh
multi-year lows of $1.0923.
-NZD held its Asia-Pac gains well throughout Thursday trade, contrasting with
GBP, which extended recent weakness to prompt bears to target the 50-dma support
at $1.2270.
-Focus Friday turns to the release of Tokyo CPI, French September inflation
data, US personal income/spending and durable goods orders. Speakers include
BoE's Saunders, Fed's Quarles & Harker and ECB's de Guindos, Knot, Lane & de
Cos.
