EURO-DOLLAR
EURO-DOLLAR: EUR/USD last deals at $1.1393, virtually unchanged on the day,
after advancing 27 pips Thursday.
- The pair fell to session lows in the London morning, coming under pressure
from Italian Dep PM Salvini's remark that Rome is not planning to cut deficit
target by more than 0.2 percentage point. However, EUR/USD bounced back upon the
release of FOMC meeting minutes, which largely echoed Wednesday's market-moving
comments from Fed Chair Powell, widely perceived as a dovish signal.
- Bulls eye yesterday's peak at $1.1402 and a break above would shift their
focus to the Nov 23 high at $1.1421. Conversely, bears need a move through
yesterday's lows of $1.1349 before challenging the psychological $1.1300 level.
- Key EZ economic releases today include French, Italian & EZ CPI, as well as
the final reading of Italian Q3 GDP. Elsewhere, ECB's Mersch & Coeure are due to
speak.
