EURO-DOLLAR
EURO-DOLLAR: EUR/USD last sits at $1.1321 after drifting slightly lower in the
early part of the Asia-Pac session.
- The rate fell nearly 30 pips Friday, as European equities closed the week
lower and political uncertainty continued to weigh on EUR.
- Italy remains the EZ's troublemaker, as its leaders seemingly do not intend to
cut the 2.4% deficit/GDP estimate while facing a Tuesday deadline for revising
the country's 2019 fiscal plan, although some source reports have intimated that
Rome is considering "limited adjustments" to its growth expectations.
- Bears keep an eye on Nov 1/Oct 31 lows of $1.1309/02. A break below would
allow them to target the lower Bollinger band at $1.1281. Conversely, bulls need
to retake Friday's highs of $1.1369 before challenging resistance at $1.1410.
- Key EZ economic releases this week include the German ZEW survey, German CPI &
EZ CPI due Tues, as well as German & EZ GDP due Weds. Elsewhere, there is plenty
ECB rhetoric scheduled throughout the week.
