€406m subsidy offer to fill Bergermeer storage

Netherlands to offer two tenders for €406m subsidy to fill Bergermeer gas storage.

  • As much as €406m available to guarantee the price spread between current high prices and lower prices next winter. This is an increase from a previous announcement of a €366m subsidy.
  • To reach the EU target of 80% they will fill Bergermeer to 68% capacity. Other storage in Netherlands is aiming for 100% full. Dutch storage is currently only 36.1% full.
  • The first tender on 30th May is for uncontracted available capacity of 4TWh.
  • The second tender on 7th June is for 16TWh.
  • State owned Energie Beheer will also store 11TWh plus any shortfall to make up the 68% capacity.
