Europe Must Conserve Energy Despite Price Drop: Engie

Europe must keep conserving energy despite the recent drop in natural gas prices, according to Engie CEO Catherine MacGregor.

  • “We are in a better situation, but that doesn’t mean we should relax,” said MacGregor
  • A mild start to the winter has helped Europe reduced gas consumption and fill storage but cold weather and supply risks continue to add to upside price moves. Engie expect gas prices will continue to be volatile.
  • "Gas will continue to be a very very important part of the future energy mix," especially for industries, said Engie CEO MacGregor. She added that Europe won't be able to quit natural gas anytime soon, despite efforts to diversify to clean energy.
