EU: European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen speaking on Brexit

following the EUCO summit, some selected quotes: 

- "We [are] seeking a solution that will allow us to sign a one of a kind

partnership with the UK. For this we have to bridge wide divergences, which

remain to be solved." 

- "The topics are known. It's the level playing field, fisheries, the governance

and it's the scope of our police and judicial cooperation." 

- "What we want to prevent is the unlevelling of the playing field. "

- "We will continue to assist national authorities and other stakeholders in

that preparation for Brexit. Also emphasised to leaders that we must continue

our work to ensure the proper implementation of the withdrawal agreement." 

- MNI Viewpoint: In several recent statements from EU officials there have been

references to the ensuring of the implementation of the withdrawal agreement.

Given that the WA is the legally enshrined document governing the UK's

withdrawal from the EU there may be some concern in Brussels that the UK gov't

is seeking to diverge from the provisions laid down by the WA.
