European Diesel Increasingly Arriving from Middle East

Europe is turning to non-Russian supply diesel according to Vortexa as the import ban draws closer.

  • Looking at data from Sept. 1-11, Europe is projected to import 1.65mn bpd of diesel, up from 1.46 mn bpd last month - the highest since August 2019.
  • It also showed diesel imports from Russia accounted for 44% of the total so far in September, down from 51% in the whole of August and 60% in July.
  • Instead, Europe has turned to the Middle East for diesel. Imports from the Middle East for the whole of September are set to rise about 50% from August to 500,000 bpd, their highest since May 2018.
