European Gas Posts Second Weekly Gain

European natural gas prices posted two consecutive weekly gains for the first time since September, as traders move to restocking, Bloomberg said.

  • TTF front month has ended the week up around 2.3%, although the rise is smaller than the 13% gain a week ago.
  • Having come out of the winter with record stockpiles, the market is now moving attention to refilling.
  • “We still think that TTF near-curve prices will slip further from current levels,” analysts at Energy Aspects said in a note.
  • “We see Europe struggling to absorb supply at its underground storage sites without recourse to front-loading injections, and then using floating liquefied natural gas storage to help balance later in the injection cycle,” they added
