Eurozone September flash headline HICP is tracking a tenth below the 1.8% analyst consensus on a rounded basis after incorporating today’s national-level data. 

  • German flash HICP was in line with expectations at 1.8% Y/Y (vs 2.0% prior), after Italy’s data also confirmed forecasts at 0.8% Y/Y (vs 1.2% prior).
  • We have also received data from Ireland (0.2% Y/Y vs 1.1% prior) and Portugal (2.6% Y/Y vs 1.8% prior) today.
  • MNI’s tracking incorporates the downward surprises to the French and Spanish prints on Friday.
  • The Netherlands (6% of the Eurozone basket) will report tomorrow morning, with the current 6-analyst consensus at 3.2% Y/Y. MNI’s current tracking assumes an in-line print on a rounded basis.
  • Austria (3% of the basket) is also due tomorrow.
