European LNG Cargo Arrivals from US Decline in May

Europe's imports of US cargoes are down in May from April's peak of 85 cargoes according to ICIS. Deliveries to the Netherlands and Germany have increased over the last year as the region opened new terminals.

  • Spain, however, has only received one US cargo in May, down from eight the month before.
  • US producers are seeing some more interest from buyers in Asia in recent weeks.
  • Northwest Europe received a total of 88 cargoes in May compared to a record 97 in April according to Bloomberg. Total imports were 11.4m metric tons down from 12.4m in April but up from 10.5m in May 2022.
  • Europe’s LNG imports are expected to rise 2-4% this year after a 65% increase last year according to Bloomberg.
