European LNG Imports Edging Higher

Northwest Europe had received 33 cargoes as of 20 Oct according to Bloomberg ship tracking data with 48.5% originating from US. The remaining cargoes have originated from as many as 10 other different locations. The region was scheduled to receive another 17 cargoes before the end of this month.

  • NW Europe has received its first LNG cargo from Egypt since June. The cargo was loaded before the start of the conflict in Israel.
  • Total European LNG sendout averaged around 311mcm/d in the week to 21 Oct compared to around 370mcm/d for the same period last year according to Bloomberg.
  • Kpler data shows LNG deliveries to Europe and Turkey rose by 2.2% last week to 3bcm and the second highest weekly supply for five months according to Montel. Supply is expected at 2.9bcm this week although still subject to changes.
  • October imports are on track the increase 27% month on month to the highest monthly volume since May with month to date at nearly 9.7bcm despite tepid demand in Europe.
  • LNG volume at sea for at least 20 days has dipped slightly in recent days back to 4.736m metric tonnes from a peak of 4.96m on 20 Oct according to Bloomberg but remains above the previous five year range.
