European Main Hydro Stocks Rise Above 5-Year Average

Hydropower stock levels in European leading hydropower producing countries – Norway, Sweden, France, Italy, Austria, Switzerland and Spain – have risen overall above the five-year averages according to Entso-E data.

  • An unanticipated increase in precipitation has supported inflows into reserves recently, after stocks moved below the five-year average in the Q2 this year.
  • Hydropower stock levels in Norway reached 77.6% of capacity as of 15 August, 4.73 percentage points above the five-year average.
  • Swiss hydropower stocks stood at 76.4% of capacity as of 14 August, 3.2 percentage points below the five year average.
