European Refinery Maintenance to Peak at 1.2mn bpd in April: Kpler

Peak European refinery offline maintenance of the current season is forecast at 1.2mn bpd next month according to Kpler.

  • European refining is peaking at the same time US capacity is emerging from its busiest turnaround period. It peaked in February.
  • “Consequently, US crude had nowhere to go but toward exports, saturating the European market,” Kpler’s Viktor Katona said.
  • Capacity going offline includes BP’s Rotterdam refinery, Neste Porvoo, Klesch Group Kalundborg and refineries in Germany, Hungary, Slovakia and Czech Republic.
