Europe’s Gas Security Last Winter Was Saved By Mild Weather, Slowing Economy

Europe will be facing gas shortages in the future, as last winter’s gas security was saved by a mild winter and a slowing economy, Qatar’s Energy Minister and CEO of QatarEnergy, Saad Sherida al-Kaabi, said.

  • The current push for the energy transition will cause oil and gas shortages, al-Kaabi added.
  • Qatar is currently on track to reach 127 MTPA of LNG capacity, he said.
  • QatarEnergy may complete supply contracts for new LNG by year-end. He also sees huge demand for LNG from North Field Expansion projects.
