Evans Stresses Need To Control Inflation

Familiar overtures from Chicago Fed President Evans (who will retire from his post early in ’23), who notes that policy must be sufficiently restrictive to ensure inflationary pressures do not broaden further. He stresses that if inflation gets worse, then the Fed will have to do more. He also flags that it would have been better if the Fed had embarked on its tightening cycle ~6 months earlier than it did.
