Family & Social Policy Min Says Unemployment Rate Likely Stayed At 5% In August

POLAND

Poland's unemployment rate likely remained unchanged at 5.0% at the end of August, Family and Social Policy Minister Marlena Malag told PAP newswire on the sidelines of the Economic Forum in Karpacz, adding that a slight increase in the jobless rate is possible in the autumn.

  • "Seasonal works will expire in the autumn months, so the unemployment may go slightly up during this month."
  • "We have defended the labour market - today we have historically low unemployment in Poland, we are the third country in the European Union."
  • Statistics Poland will release official unemployment data for August on September 25.
