FERC to Decide in April on Venture Global Extension

LNG

FERC said on Friday it would decide on Venture Global’s one-year extension plan within 45 days, it said in a statement.

  • FERC will accept public comments through March 8 but will not revisit the plant's original export authorization, it said.
  • "The Commission will address all arguments relating to whether the applicant has demonstrated there is good cause to grant the extension," FERC said.
  • Venture Global asked for a one-year extension last week to complete its Calcasieu Pass gas-export plant, or to receive assurances it did not need an extension.
  • BP, Shell and Repsol are pushing back against the request. All three have filed contract arbitration claims against Venture Global over a lack of contracted cargoes.
  • Venture Global claims the facility is still in a commissioning phase so is not offering contracted cargoes to the likes of BP, Shell and Repsol, instead selling them direct.
