FERC to Vote on CP2 Project on June 27

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission is set to vote on Venture Global’s CP2 LNG export project in Louisiana at its June 27 meeting, according to the agenda cited by Bloomberg.

  • The project has been the subject of environmental protests and has been pending for more than 10 months.
  • The project could be furthered delayed with final approval still required from the Energy Department.
  • CP2 is still awaiting approval after the Biden administration’s decision to pause approvals of new LNG export permits earlier this year.
  • Venture Global has offtake agreements for half of its capacity with the likes of: JERA, SEFE, EnBW, Exxon Mobil, and Chevron, Reuters said earlier this year.
