Fiala Seeks To Defuse Tensions, Says Gov't & CNB Share Goal Of Taming Inflation

CZECHIA
  • Prime Minister Petr Fiala and Finance Minister Zbynek Stanjura met with CNB Governor Ales Michl and other Bank Board members ahead of their regular non-monetary policy meeting. The Premier told reporters that the government and the central bank share the same goal to "significantly" curb inflation. Czech newspapers DenikN and Respekt had earlier reported that the two clashed over Cernochova's interventions in the work of the military. Fiala will host a meeting with the two officials today, seemingly seeking to allow them to find an optimal mode of cooperation.
