CZECHIA
  • Prime Minister Petr Fiala is due to meet with President Joe Biden in the White House later today. An analytical piece circulated by Seznam Zpravy notes that Czechia's role in coordinating ammunition purchases for Ukraine helped secure the invitation for Fiala, but the US side is also interested in discussing nuclear cooperation, even as American company Westinghouse has been excluded from the ongoing tender to build a reactor in Dukovany. Fiala is accompanied by his National Security Adviser Tomas Pojar and heads of all three Czech intelligence services.
  • A Kantar opinion poll showed that the main opposition ANO party remains front-runner even as its support rate fell by 4pp to 34.5%. Prime Minister Fiala's ODS is in second place with 16% of support.
  • Labour and Social Affairs Minister Marian Jurecka said that the minimum wage should increase to 47% of the average wage (or to CZK27,400/month) over the next five years. It currently stands at 41% of the average wage.
