CZECHIA
  • The exemption from EU sanctions regime allowing Slovakia to export products made from refined Russian crude oil expires today, with much of Slovak gasoline and diesel flowing to neighbouring Czechia. Analyst Jana Klimova told Cesky rozhlas last week that this should not result in fuel shortages but may boost prices. She noted that Czechia needs to import around a third of its refined fuels and around half of that amount is supplied by the company MOL using Russian oil.
  • Prime Minister Petr Fiala will speak on recent public protests, state budget and energy prices on Blesk.cz at 08:30GMT/09:30CET. The government has been trying to respond to the backlash against its fiscal consolidation measures and pension reforms intended to reduce budget deficits in the coming years.
  • Health Minister Vlastimil Valk said that the government will sign an agreement with the Czech Medical Chamber on Friday to raise doctors' salaries by CZK5,000-15,000 and the salaries of other hospital employees by 5%, which should mark the end of doctors' protests.
