Finance Minister Highlights Levels Of Uncertainty Have Been Reduced

CHILE
  • Finance Minister Mario Marcel has highlighted that levels of uncertainty have been reduced in Chile, while maintaining that the idea of more sustained growth is taking shape in the nation. (La Tercera)
  • "The indicator calculated by the Central Bank that showed very high figures of uncertainty in 2022, beginning of 2023, today is at similar levels as before the social outbreak," indicated the Minister of Finance. Following the Imacec figure from February, Marcel, highlighted that the Chilean economy has been growing since mid-2023.
  • “It is good data that is combined with the good data from January. In January we also had a positive surprise and that is confirmed. This has meant that in recent weeks analysts are adjusting their growth projections for the year,” the minister said on Radio Agriculture.
  • Likewise, he pointed out that “the first thing we have to be clear about is that the economy has been growing month by month since July of last year. There have been some negative surprises, but the upward trend has been going on since the middle of last year. With the data from January and February, what we need during the rest of the year to grow at 2.5%, month by month, is less than the average of what we have grown from the middle of last year until now.
