Finance Minister Says Central Bank Appointment To Be Announced Tuesday

  • (Diario Financiero) Finance Minister Mario Marcel has announced that on Tuesday the Government's candidate will be announced to replace the seat on the BCCh of the current vice president, Pablo García.
    • The position becomes vacant on January 22, when the economist completes his ten-year period as an advisor at the central bank.
    • According to the report, the two names in the running for the position are the former vice president of the Financial Market Commission (CMF), Kevin Cowan, and the chief economist of Banco Santander, Claudio Soto.
    • The announcement is expected to be delivered tomorrow morning and the appointment letter will be put before the Senate during the afternoon.
