Finance Ministry To Launch Sustainable Peso Bonds Issue

  • Chile is expected to launch sustainability-linked global bonds denominated in pesos. The government surprised investors with simultaneous bond sales abroad and in the local market last week, amid soaring core yields. Initial price talk is in the 7.25% area.
  • Analysts have noted the lacklustre response of copper prices to the latest round of policy action from China as echoing trading patterns seen after similar packages earlier this year. The muted response may reflect underlying challenges for the red metal, ranging from supplies running ahead of demand and rising stockpiles to a stronger dollar and contango pricing with three-month futures trading above spot.
