Finance Ministry To Publish Debt Management Report

CZECHIA
  • Czechia's Finance Ministry will publish its quarterly report on debt management at 13:00BST/14:00CEST. The document will be available under this link. Czechia's fiscal situation remains under close scrutiny, as reining in spending remains one of the key priorities of Prime Minister Fiala's administration, while a couple of CNB policymakers recently warned that a failure to do that could justify a resumption of monetary tightening.
  • The Chamber of Deputies will today debate a bill that would make it mandatory for the state to spend at least 2% of GDP on national defence, in line with official NATO guidelines. The bill is likely to pass, given the ruling coalition's majority in both houses of parliament. Defence spending is projected to be 1.52% of GDP this year.
  • Education Minister Vladimir Balas has resigned due to health reasons and Seznam Zpravy reports that he will be replaced by EU Minister Mikulas Bek. Deputy Foreign Minister Martin Dvorak will become the new EU Minister.
