Finland Nears LNG Boost

Finland is set to begin LNG imports to replace Russian pipeline gas with the Exemplar tanker expected to arrive at the port of Inkoo over the Christmas holiday weekend with an LNG Cargo according to ship-tracking data from Refinitiv.

  • The Exemplar tanker will be docked as the FSRU at Inkoo under a 10-year deal with US-owned Excelerate Energy.
  • The FSRU terminal will have a regasification capacity of 5 bcm/ year and will not receive LNG cargoes from Russia following a ban by the country’s energy authorities.
  • Finland though continues to receive small-scale Russian LNG imports via two of its terminals at Tornio & Pori storage according to flows data from Refintiv.
