Finland’s Strikes Cause Fuel Tightness at Neste’s Gas Stations

Some of Neste’s gas stations in Finland are starting to run out of fuel as industrial action has halted deliveries since 11 March, Neste told Bloomberg.

  • The situation will become more difficult as the strikes have been extended and Neste is no longer able to secure deliveries, the firm added.
  • Neste said in early March it can only continue “essential work” at its 206kbpd Porvoo refinery during the duration of the strikes.
  • Neste said last week that strikes in Finland have already reduced exports from the country’s terminals and could cut supply to fuel filling stations if they continue.
  • Finnish unions extended strikes until 1 April, from 25 March previously scheduled.
  • The Porvoo refinery is scheduled to undergo maintenance for nine weeks during Q2, the firm said previously.
