Firms Above $0.64

NZD/USD has firmed above $0.64 handle for the first time since early April, the pair is up ~0.2% last printing at $0.6400/05.

  • The greenback has been marginally pressured after an offer in USD/JPY spilled over, another stronger than forecast Yuan fix and higher regional equities.
  • Bulls now target the high from Feb 3 at $0.6487, a break through here opens year to date highs at $0.6538.
  • AUD/NZD is ~0.2% lower, however the pair remains in a narrow range as it consolidates below $1.08.
  • Cross asset wise; Hang Seng is up ~0.5% and BBDXY is down ~0.1%. US Tsy Yields are a touch lower across the curve.
  • A reminder that NZ markets are closed today for the observance of a national holiday. Looking ahead, Wednesday's Q2 CPI print presents as the next macro risk event.
