First Train of Arctic LNG 2 Started Production, Macroeconomic Data on the Docket

  • The first train of the Novatek-led Arctic LNG 2 project “has actually started working,” Russia’s Deputy Prime Minister Novak said in an interview with Rossiya 24 that was cited by Bloomberg. Novak added that the first shipments from the projects are expected in 1Q 2024 and that Russia’s total LNG output is seen at some 33m tons in 2023.
  • Russian oil refineries will receive about RUB1.7trln from the budget in 2023 against more than RUB2trln a year earlier, Kommersant report, adding that this is how much it will cost the budget to contain the cost of fuel on the domestic market
  • Macroeconomic data including industrial production, retail sales and unemployment rate figures are on the docket at 1600GMT/1900 local time. Foreign Minister Lavrov will hold talks with his Indian counterpart in Moscow.
