Fitch Ratings Affirms Chile Rating at 'A-'; Outlook Stable

CHILE
  • Fitch Ratings has affirmed Chile's Long-Term (LT) Foreign-Currency (FC) and Local-Currency Issuer Default Ratings (IDR) at 'A-' with a Stable Rating Outlook.
  • From the report:
  • Credit Strengths and Weaknesses: Chile's ratings are supported by a relatively strong sovereign balance sheet, with government debt/GDP well below peers, solid governance indicators and a track record of credible macroeconomic policies centered on an inflation-targeting regime and flexible exchange rate. These strengths are balanced by per capita income that Fitch projects will remain low relative to peers, high commodity dependence and weak external leverage and liquidity metrics.
