Flint Hills Corpus Christi Refinery Shuts FCC After Fire

Flint Hills shut the 58kbpd FCC at the Corpus Christi West, Texas, refinery on Wednesday afternoon, after two small fires were reported on Tuesday night and early Wednesday, according to TCEQ filing.

  • The Tuesday night blaze occurred at 8:11pm local time at the main air blower suction filter, causing an emergency shutdown of the associated FCC, the TCEQ filing stated. The fire was extinguished around 9PM local time.
  • The second fire occurred Wednesday morning at the FCC unit’s CO boiler, sources told Bloomberg.
