FM: Progress Insufficient On Brexit Deal, Fisheries Talks Disappointing

Ireland's Foreign Minister Simon Coveney has stated that there has been 'nowhere near sufficient progress' on an FTA deal between the EU and the UK as the end of the Brexit transition period approaches, saying that both sides remain far apart on an agreement.

  • He adds that talks between the two sides on fisheries have been 'disappointing' so far.
  • As various self-imposed deadlines and the main Dec 31 deadline for the end of the transition period approach, more politicians from member states are likely to become involved in the negotiation process in an attempt to speed up a deal.
