EGB SUMMARY: Following the jolt this morning on the back of the twin US
headlines (escalating tensions with China and Iran), there has been limited
movement in EGBs this afternoon.
- Bunds have traded in a relatively tight range. Current yield levels: 2-year
-0.596%, 5-year -0.427%, 10-year 0.006%, 30-year 0.654%.
- Germany's Economy Minister Peter Altmaier has stated that the EU is trying to
help resolve the trade spat between Washington and Beijing, and has warned that
unilateral action on trade should be avoided. Although Germany has been a
longstanding supporter of free trade and globalisation, Altmaier's comments also
reflect mounting concern over the vulnerability of Germany's struggling car
industry.
- Italian BTP yields are 1-2bp higher on the day, while the curve trades
relatively flat. Former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi has left
hospital following surgery and has vowed to continue campaigning in European
Parliamentary elections.
- Euribor futures are flat in whites, 0.5/1.0 ticks higher in greens/blues
