US DATA PREVIEW: For Friday's Q1 GDP (1.9% est vs. 2.9% prior) and Q1 ECI (0.7%
est. vs. 0.6% prior), RBS/NatWest economists said "GDP growth is widely
anticipated to have been soft" they "look for an increase of 2.0% annualized."
RBS cautions "against reading too much into the deceleration," however as they
"expect growth over the final three quarters of 2018 will rebound to an
annualized pace of 3.0%." On 1Q employment cost index, RBS said "given the Fed's
focus on inflation, any surprise...could prove to be the most important
development of the week." RBS estimates "the report to show a pickup in wage
growth in Q1 (+0.7%q/q / 2.7% y/y)."
