Foreign Minister to Meet Head of Rosatom in Budapest

  • Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto is scheduled to meet with the head of the Russian nuclear corporation Rosatom in Budapest today, TASS report. The Paks nuclear power plant, which uses Russian nuclear fuel, provides half of all generated and one third of consumed electricity in Hungary. Currently, preparations are underway for the construction of two new power units designed by Rosatom.
  • Separately, Szijjarto will speak later this morning at a Balkans forum in Budapest at 09:30GMT. There are no economic data releases scheduled for today, or for the remainder of the week.
  • The release of the MPC’s February meeting minutes is the highlight of the week tomorrow afternoon and is expected to show dissenting votes among the Council for the second month in a row. In January, the MPC voted 7-2 in favour of a 75bp cut (with Zoltán Kovács and Mihály Patai the hawkish dissenters).
