POWER: Fortum Advanced 2025, 2026 Power Hedges at Stable Prices in 4Q24

Fortum has advanced its power hedges for its planned generation in 2025 and 2026 on the quarter as of the end of 2024, while the achieved prices remained stable, it said. 

  • Fortum hedged 75% of its planned production for 2025 at an average achieved price of €42/MWh as of the end of last year. This compares to 65% hedged at €42/MWh as of Q3 2024.
  • For 2026, Fortum hedged 45% of its planned output at €41/MWh as of the end of 2024, compared with 40% hedged at €41/MWh as of 3Q 2024.
  • Fortum sees is Nordic outright power generation at 47GWh/yr.
  • Fortum’s hydropower generation in 2024 declined to 20.2TWh, down from 20.9TWh in 2023.
  • The firm’s nuclear generation also edged lower last year to 24.3TWh, compared with 24.8TWh the year prior.
  • Fortum’s nuclear generation in the last quarter of 2024 declined to 4.6TWh, from 6TWh a year earlier, mainly due to prolonged outages at the Forsmark and Loviisa reactors, and unplanned outages in Olkiluoto.
