France Consumer Sentiment disappointed by falling 1 point to 89 in June (vs 90 consensus, 90 prior), but continues to remain in the range of 88-91 since November 2023.

  • From the sub-components of particular interest is that 'Future savings capacity' saw a sharp decline of 4 points to 7 - returning to the March 2024 level, although above its long term average of -7. This is whilst current savings capacity rebounded 3 points to 18 - the highest since March 2022.
  • In addition, 'Future standard of living' saw a deterioration of 4 points to -50 in June - the weakest level since October 2023, and significantly below its long term average of -28.
  • Finally on price development, the future expectations of consumer prices sub-component saw gain of 6 points to -47 after 3 consecutive months of decline, although it remains below its long term average of 31.
  • The survey was conducted with around 2,000 households between May 28 to June 17.
