POWER: France Jan Power Tracks 9% Weekly Increase

France January power is tracking a weekly net increase of around 9% with supported from the energy complex and expectations of higher electric heating demand driven by colder weather. French spot power is expected to fall with high wind output this weekend, especially on Sunday.

  • Wind output in France is forecast to rise to 9.65GW on Saturday and to 14.44GW on Sunday, up from 6.71GW forecasted for Friday according to SpotRenewables.
  • Residual load in France is forecast to decrease to 42.19GWh/h on Saturday and to 34.99GWh/h on Sunday, down from 53.55GWh/h on Friday according to Reuters.
  • France’s hydro balance has been revised up to end at -67GWh on 3 January, compared with -180GWh forecasted previously.
