Freeport LNG Restart Remains Unclear

Freeport LNG has not yet submitted a request to resume service to the Department of Transportations Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) according to Reuters sources.

  • The company had originally committed to becoming operational this month but has failed to mention any restart dates in its latest comments on Friday and Monday.
  • Freeport made the comments on Friday and Monday in response to rumors of cracked pipes which it called fake news. They also refused to comment on the other main circulating rumor that the terminal start-up was delayed to December.
  • Refinitiv data shows a couple of vessels waiting to pick up LNG from Freeport.
